Many of the people that we talk to have never heard of value-based care before. Even if they have read an article about it, they typically find that a lot of the language and information is geared towards government entities and health care professionals. Most of the resources available don’t really explain it in a way that patients can relate to. As this idea moves into the mainstream, Health Care Advantage is hoping to change that. Because we believe it’s important for you to understand the kind of care you are receiving.

Differences between value-based care and the traditional health care system

Most of us have experienced the traditional health care system. We go to the doctor’s office and there are 50 people in the waiting room. When we do finally get in to see the doctor, we are rushed through. The system is set up in a way that requires doctors to see a large number of patients every day. They are compensated based on the number of patients they see and procedures they perform. It’s not their fault. It’s just the way the current system is set up.

Value-based care is different. In this innovative health care model, doctors are rewarded based on patients getting better. This means that doctors see fewer patients and spend more time with you, getting to know you and your needs and setting up a plan that you can follow. It creates a different experience and allows doctors to have real relationships with their patients.

It’s the way health care should be, and we’re proud to partner only with offices who practice this way. If you’d like to learn more, contact us, and we’ll help you set up a free tour at an office near you.
